RNA therapeutics are delivered throughout your body, including to cells that are not the intended or ideal targets. Like a drug going to the wrong location, this can lead to significant and often severe side effects.
The inability to target cells specifically, greatly reduces the feasibility of new RNA therapeutics, as side effects have the potential to be wide-ranging and significant.

RNA Therapeutics
With the breakthrough of mRNA therapeutics onto the pharmaceutical scene, the stage is primed for sxRNA. We envision our technology playing a role in the therapies listed above, as well as cancer therapies, and treatment of other neuro-degenerative diseases.
Diagnostics
sxRNA-based switches are highly sensitive and highly specific. Our switches are being used to design point-of-care diagnostics. We are currently in partnership for the development of a serum-based diagnostic for early detection of cancer relapse.
Biomanufacturing
sxRNA has several potential applications in the biomanufacturing space. A broad application is to potentially reduce time to find the best clones in a population from months to weeks. Due to the controllable switch activity of sxRNA, this can further be built on to greatly enhance the amount of protein produced in cells that can manufacture them in abundance, but do not tolerate the protein product well.
